Director of Sound

I am told that in Asian countries, their film industries grew up with idea of director of picture and director of sound. The closest to the Hollywood equivalents are the Director and Sound Supervisor. The difference is that director of picture and director of sound have equal say... which mirrors more of the fact that a film is not just a motion picture but image and sound play out over a period of time, usually an equal amount of time. That makes them each 50% of the final product. It is interesting that we don't really try practicing that in film school where we are not involved in a commercial setting.

The asian perspective is how Lisa and Pearry work, which is very interesting to see played out over time.

There's a possibility I'm going to be out in LA Aug 4, 5, 6. When do you go back to Tucson?

There was an episode of "South Park" that made fun of independent filmmakers lack of attention to sound and how its normally brushed over.
